First Snow In October 2006

Here it is only autumn, and we already
had a snowfall. On the evening of October
twelfth it began to snow! We couldn’t
believe it. By the thirteenth we had 2 feet
of snow. The city of Buffalo, and all the
surrounding suburbs were crippled. The
leaves on the trees made them so heavy
with snow the branches just snapped.

Utilities poles were down. Customers
were without electric, heat, telephone,
and cable TV. The very worst storm I had
ever seen, including the Blizzard of 1977.
Trees went through roofs, on top of cars,
and made travel impossible. The New York State
Thruway was closed for 125 miles. As of today’s
date, the nineteenth there are still people without
electric, and heat or phone.

Thirteen deaths occurred as a direct result of this
storm. We are currently in a State Of Emergency.
The National Guard has been called in to help.
We all had to boil water, and those without had
to borrow from neighbors. That’s what is so
wonderful about Western New York. Buffalo
is a city of good neighbors, and so are the suburbs.

The elderly were hardest hit, and police and firemen
came to their rescue. There were places set up for
people to go to for heat, food and cots to sleep.
Detroit, Michigan also was hit by this storm.
Then Hawaii had earthquakes. Please keep all of
these people in your prayers as I’m sure you will.
God Bless You and Yours! Jesus hears our prayers.

This was the first time that this area had a snow storm of this
nature in One Hundred and Thirty-Seven years.
The first day of Winter is December 22nd.
Tree branches fell on the statue of Jesus with His arms
outstreached at the Annunciation School that is located
outside, in the form of a cross.
