Love letters from so long ago
Reveal true love it did show
A pure treasure found
With red ribbon bound
Found hidden in a case
With mementos and lace
These letters had real charm
They were dusty yet free from harm
You think by now a story is told
It was found with a book of old
True of my husband’s parents
Personal are the contents
A few words I will reveal
Love words so real
He called her Pal
She was his gal
They spoke of a hidden kiss
In a pantry room they felt such bliss
Of her Aunts home they did meet
And showed affection so discreet
After desert the music played
A little late they stayed
Their looks from across the room
Her aunt did presume
A love affair did start
Not quite sure she had his heart
Letters dated weekly
Words ever so meekly
In time he asked her hand
In a love so grand
Like a fairy tale
They hid their mail
Once he knew she was his
Her father did quiz
About his intensions
He replied admiration
Love and marriage
And his heritage
Build a home for two
One with a beautiful view
Her father had his word
They had concurred
These letters of old
A true story was told
