Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Patricius was a teen from Great Briton
Who was kidnapped and taken to Ireland
Held captive for six years he herded sheep
Escaped and went back to his home land

During his time of captivity he had dreams
Of teaching the Irish Christianity
He believed his dreams were from God
After fifteen years of study he became a priest

His return to Ireland was welcomed
He taught lessons from the books of apostles
About Jesus, His miracles, and attitudes
Not a nature based pagan religion

He wanted to incorporate the Irish ways
into Christianity. He kept the sun on the cross
which became the famous Celtic cross
He also kept fire as an Easter celebration

His love of the Irish was strong and wanted
To live out his life in Ireland
It was myth that he chased the snakes,
or taught the trinity on the clover
It is believed that he died on March 17, 460AD

May St. Patrick bless all who read his
wonderful legacy.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you
with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,
may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide
and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may
be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
