Memories of My Grandmother
My granny always had us over for Sunday dinner After her church service, and fellowship with tea and cookies She wasn’t wealthy, but always had a pretty dress and hat Once my granny was “Queen For A Day,” if you remember? She was the rose that day, with all the presents she won. I can still see Grandma sitting on that throne. She was our queen, and led our family as if royalty. My granny wasn’t perfect, but she was humble. I remember thinking when I was a little girl That maybe one day I could wear pretty hats and dresses Just like granny did.
My granny cooked everything from scratch Made roasts, baked cookies and biscuits. My favorite was her apple strudel Whether it was a roasted chicken or beef Grandma always had homemade soup to start Always had a desert, cherry pie, or muffins My granny was the best cook ever, and she Showed her love in what she cooked or baked. She had a heart of gold, and if anyone needed Anything she gave freely from her heart. Never did she say well, I’ll see But how she answered was how much do you need These are happy memories of a Granny who had love in her soul.
