She was a little redhead, cute and petite
And loved to work with her Mother
In their garden and help choose the flowers
The child’s Mother loved her as no other
Her Mother taught her how to garden
And prepare where to place the flowers
And focus where the veggies would grow
It was delightful to wait and see the showers

For all the plants and grass need rain
Dad cut the grass early in the morn
They enjoyed their garden loved the sun
They had beautiful bushes and boxthorn
Then one day a wonderful surprise
Her parents set up a swing set in the yard
She did listen and accept their rules
Her soft fuzzy dog stayed by her side as she did guard

Her Father built a birdhouse with care
And her Mom made a birdbath
She did persist and helped her Dad paint the fence
He also made a change and created a brick path
They enjoyed the sound of the crickets at night
Her little kitties did persist and kept the mice away
Summer is such a lovely time to relax and enjoy
Her and her friends would go out and play

Fun to run in and out of the water sprinkler
Time to cook out and roast the burgers and corn
They would forgive and pray before each meal
The table was set with daises and did adorn
Her parents did believe and trust she would never swim alone
They understood the risk of raising a child and watched her close
With every kind act from this child did make her parents smile
They watched with love to see how the child and garden grows

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not
forsake your mother’s teachings.
